In April 2018 we will, hopefully have completed a coming together of 4 YMCAs working across large parts of Greater London and beyond. My time is spent doing a pennies and pounds exercise- that is ensuring that we get our foundation right so we realise the benefits of coming together in the big picture.</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04453539642579136480noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6579518867351268056.post-28075721433137742372017-09-16T19:10:00.001+01:002017-09-16T19:10:58.321+01:00Fun running<img id="id_3606_4284_c31_fd19" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-TlmO9-NoAJQ/Wb1pMU-9bXI/AAAAAAADdLs/Hvr8BnXVRXgp9aB_iMKfqCjUxhih_vWVwCHMYCw/s5000/%255BUNSET%255D" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 353px; height: auto;"><br><div>Great family activity day in Richmond with all the girls getting their running medals. It's been fascinating to skim back through what I thought and said over those years of change. <div><br></div><div>Being on holiday gives time to step back and reflect, and Ina mindfulness way, ask simple questions with significant meanings. Being in a country with layers of cultural and political history that go back millennia it is fascinintg to think of ideas that emerge that live on and those that fade with time. </div><div><br></div><div>I've also read two of Conn Ingulden's books on the Wars of the Roses and been reminded how human conflict is often born out of suspicion (bad) luck self interest and missed messages. The intrigue of this period with its subplots that go back into history and are built on a need to preserve into the future , demonstrate that no matter what is said what is heard can be different.</div><div><br></div><div>Good Ideas and good communication need to be linked to ensure survival. At the same time Communication needs to be understood as what is heard and understood rather than what is said and broadcast. <p>What Andrea is doing is brave, on the edge and missionally very exciting and so her interview is worth listening to. Check it out here:<br>

However what provided us the greatest amusement this week was when they decided to go into the dressing up box and then let their imagination run wild outside. After 15 minutes had passed a disconsolate Ella returned, when asked why so sad she replied 'I put on my cape but I can't fly, Daddy can you fix it!'</p>
<p>So begins my fatherly decent into daughterly disappointment...today it is capping her caped ambitions, tomorrow ?!</p>

Last night Debbie and I went to the <a href="http://www.sundaytimeswineclub.co.uk/stwc/jsp/templates/abouttheclub/vintageFestival.jsp" target="_blank">Sunday Times Vintage Wine Festival</a> at the Royal Horticultural Halls near Westminster. Over 60 exhibitors and probably close to 200 wines were on show ranging from £6 to £35 a bottle. Alongside the wine was a number of classes and tasting tests to help you enhance your palette (Debbie scored 100%).<br />
<br />
We returned home happy having probably tried around 30 wines each but still remarkably sober!</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04453539642579136480noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6579518867351268056.post-72352500003264733212012-04-24T15:07:00.001+01:002012-04-30T11:39:37.745+01:00Catherine Paver at hawkerFundraising concert at Hawker this afternoon, <a href="http://www.paversongs.com/">Catherine Paver</a> playing a set of country and western songs.<br />

Last night I meet with Steve Barnes for a general catch up. Steve and Jacqui were some of the first people we meet in Kingston and they were great at making us feel welcomed and supported.<br />
Post of the focus of our conversations was the Oxygen 10 year anniversary service that its coming up on Saturday. Steve and I have a 10 minute slot labelled as reflections and memories. Last night as we chatted we quickly recalled all the hairy moments, the gangs rushing liquid oxygen,the queues around the block for the vent, the young people chased by the police, the football team with the winger who carried his phone on the pitch so he could continue his dealing and the night that Ed Davey kindly visited and was subjected to some embarrassing and inappropriate questioning.<br />
It mi be easy to look back and see the problems with Oxygen given such a list however as we charted last night we realised that Oxygen was prepared to take a gamble, to do things differently and live on the edge. In the process mistakes have been madeand their have been times we have needed to stop step back and reset however by doing risky mission, thinking outside the box Oxygen had transformed lives, brought hope and love in new ways<br />
